Welcome to "La Torre Storica"

La Torre Storica – The Historic Tower was part of the federician town wall dated 13th century sorrounding the medieval Palo del Colle. Walking through the old city center you can admire the imposing Palazzo Filomarino della Rocca, the formerly federician castle transformed into a baronial residence in the 18th century. Then you’ll admire the city cathedral S. Maria la Porta dated 12th century with its majestic belfry in apulian roman style.

Discovering Castel del Monte

Castel del Monte was built in the 13th cent. by Federic II. The peculiarity of the castle that attracts crowds of visitors from all over the world lies in the way it has been built. Federic II, man of great knowledges, expert in mid-oriental culture, wanted the castle to be built octagonal with eight towers ( the eight is the perfect number).

Horse Riding in the Murgia Park

We give visitors the possibility to do great ride in the Murgia Park founded in 2004. The park extends itself among Bari, Barletta, Andria and Trani territories. You can visit the park alone or with the family and you’ll observe the typical countryside of north Apulia and the Difesa Grande wood. The environment is full of ravine, deep splits of limestone rocks. Of great interest is the Pulo di Altamura, the biggest sinkhole of the environment.

Flavours of Apulia

The typical Palo del Colle dish is linguine pasta with sepia cuttle-fish tomatoe sauce with grated hazel-nut on top. Talking about food, the best known Apulian dish is the orecchiette pasta with cime di rape vegetable, seasoned with apulian vergin olive oil (recognized as the best olive oil on earth), red pepper and small ciliegine tomatoes.
